Inspired by the trip down memory lane by Lucasfilm’s @infinata on Twitter and the subsequent article on Club Jade, I took a peak at my own archives and came up with these gems with regards to Prequel Rumours:
Episode II Opening Scene:
Next Star Wars movie will be bleak – it’s official.
“Sources highly placed in the camp of George Lucas have revealed a few more snippets about the next movie in the new Star Wars prequel sequence.
The body of the movie will address the start of the transformation of Anakin Skywalker into the black-clad asthmatic that will become Lord Dark Helmet, opps, I mean Darth Vader.
Forget fun CGI amphibians wondering around sounding like a bad Bob Marley impression, the next Star Wars film is going to be bleak.
I think George sees this as a journey of human development,’ said our source. ‘He’s a big fan of the movie Apocalypse Now, and having seen the scripts, I think there is a little of the spirit of that film in II.
Christopher Lee & Christopher Walken:
“Rumor has it, as many well know, that Christopher Walken signed on to play Darth Bane. Well, the fact turned out that he wasn’t even contacted for Episode II. Well, EpisodeII.com is reporting that Christopher Lee may be playing a count. I suspect it may be Darth Bane he is playing b/c in the Episode II section of The Official Site, there is a picture of Darth Bane entitled MSchreck.JPG. This picture led many to believe that Walken would play Bane in Episode II. Maybe an indirect sign, but Max Schreck, also the name of Walken’s character in Batman Returns, was the name of the actor who played Dracula in 1922′s Nosferatu.”
More Christopher Walken:
The Force.Net has a report, taken from Cranky Critic in which they say they’ve talked to Christopher Walken and he has this to say :
“People have been telling me for six months and really it’s very interesting. I even asked. I said maybe I am in it and they’re just saving it for a surprise. But I’m not in that movie. Never was. I don’t know how that happened. Maybe somebody put it on the internet. I tell you frankly that the only place I’ve ever heard that is by way of rumor.”
Shame really…would have been cool to see Walken in Episode II, in ANY Role and not just the Darth Bane rumor that was floating around.
Meanwhile, Moriarty over at AICN has this to say :
“I mean, no offense to the guy who originally “broke the scoop” over at The CrankyCritic.com site, but I’ve never heard of him, I certainly didn’t hear Walken say this with my own two ears, and every single piece of reliable information I’ve gotten from inside the production contradicts the statement he claims Walken made.”
Leanna Walsman to Play Aurra Sing:
The Force.Net seems to have this obsession with Leanna Walsman – new to the cast of Episode II – playing Aurra Sing, the Bounty Hunter glimpsed briefly during the Pod Race in Episode I. Now, I’m not
<i>heightest</i> but I’m pretty sure the character of Sing is taller than Leanna’s height of 1.6 M (approx 5` 2″). so IS Leanna Aurra Sing or not ? The Official blurb is that she will play a Bounty Hunter so how come TF.N and others have jumped to the Sing conclusion ?
Episode II Opening Scene:
(Sounds more like Episode III)
“Rumours have been spilling out of Skywalker Ranch about the Episode II movie, tentatively entitled The Convergence of the Clones.
A teenage Anakin Skywalker and Queen Amidala are said to remain central characters against the backdrop of the much talked about Clone Wars.”
The movie starts off with a major space battle, which according to our sources, is going to be on scale unlike anything that has been seen before, special effects-wise, using some new FX techniques that Lucas has kept in stealth mode especially for the movie (a new form of CGI rendering, perhaps?).
This space battle is a surprise attack on the Republic fleet which was described to us in hushed tones by our source as ‘Pearl Harbour in a massive Orbital Dock facility’, and will be a death blow from which the Republic will find it near impossible to recover from.”
Harry Knowles and The Shadow Falls:
Harry posted a few weeks back that the title for Episode II was to be The Shadow Falls…on Wednesday, April 4th, 2001 (last night), the UK’s Channel 5 aired a program called The Movie Chart Show in which they did a small feature with George Lucas.
Now, for some reason, the voice-over guy said that Episode II title was
titled The Shadow Falls…note that it is the voice-over guy that said it, NOT George Lucas. Still, Harry decides to say :
“WELL… Today Channel 5 did an interview with MR GEORGE LUCAS, a somewhat involved in the Star Wars thing personality, who apparently confirmed the title…”
Going on to quote someone who must have been watching a totally different program because they claim :
“Just been watching the Movie Chart Show on Channel 5 here in the UK. In an exclusive interview with George Lucas, he confirmed the title for Ep II is ‘A Shadow Falls’ I know there was some doubt when you scooped this a while ago, but this seems to confirm it. Straight from the horses mouth.”
Strange…that isn’t the program I watched…the only mention of a title came from the voice-over guy…and he probably got it from the researchers who decided to look to the internet for title rumours.
Episode II Working Title:
STAR WARS – EPISODE II – BETRAYAL OF THE CODE
Then there’s the…
There’s one thing that I find to be a source of much irritation these days and that is the prolific use of Online Petitions when a fanboy is upset with the way things are going or wants to get their own way by setting up the type of crap witnessed over the last few days in Star Wars fandom.
One fan decided to make a petition requesting that Peter Jackson (Director but not Creator), of Lord of the Rings fame be given control of the Star Wars franchise. No offense to Mr. Jackson but it’s not as if he wrote LotR is it ?
I’m sure LotR will be a great movie, I’m sure people will get a lot of fun out of the three hour epic but, come on, sycophantically sucking up to him the way this mentally unstable fanboy is doing is just plain ridiculous.
Star Wars belongs to George Lucas, let’s have no more of this Peter Jackson gibberish !!
Oh and the…
This, my friends, is the type of insanity and idiocy we are dealing with in Star Wars fandom. Because of a small cameo by boy band N’Sync in Episode II, George Lucas and his daughter Katie have had death threats made against them by disgruntled fans.
Are these insane idiots for real ? Over 5,000 people died in a terrorist attack on September 11th, 2001 and yet these idiotic scum are upset over the inclusion of a boy band in a MOVIE and want Lucas and his Daughter DEAD ?????? It makes no sense. WHAT has the world come to ??
I have to say, today I am ashamed that I am a Star Wars fan, considering the mentality of some of my peers!
BUT to end on a happier note, we have the…
Opening Scroll to Episode III:
The Republic is doomed. Spies loyal to the Jedi Order have reported several ARMORED SPACE STATIONS under construction by the Separatists.
A desperate plan to attack the Dreaded Seperatist capitol of HAD ABADDON and destroy the battle stations before they are completed has been put into effect.
Jedi commandos, led by Obi-Wan Kenobi, have made their way into the very heart of Count Dooku’s empire: as the first step toward the final battle for the survival of the Republic
Nothing much has changed over the last *ten years, really, since that last entry.
